Police said a Kona man is in critical condition following a domestic dispute Sunday night.

At 10:05 p.m. Sunday, officers were at Kona Community Hospital for an unrelated case when a 20-year-old Kailua-Kona man arrived in a private vehicle and was taken to the emergency room with a laceration to his left forearm.

The man received the injury in what was described as a domestic altercation at a home on the 73-1200 block of Awakea Street in Kailua-Kona, police said.

Shortly after midnight Monday morning, officers arrested 18-year-old Synise Santos at the scene on suspicion of first-degree assault and domestic abuse. She had not been charged as of Monday afternoon and remains at the Kona police cellblock while detectives continue to investigate.

The victim remains at the hospital in critical condition, police said Monday afternoon.
